Mail Call for 2-16

February 16, 2005

"In reference to people calling in and complaining about Holly Place closing. If you people who call in would do something themselves like donate money that would help. Calling into this column about them closing isn't going to solve the problem."

- Greencastle, Pa.

"I think Hagerstown has gone off the deep end. Now they want to go up on West Washington Street and plant trees in front of our houses. Some of them are going to grow 40 to 45 feet high. They are going to have canopies anywhere from 40 to 70 feet. Can you imagine all the bird droppings and all the leaves on the sidewalk? I don't want one in front of my house. The city can't keep the streets clean now so why do they want to plant these trees? I wish other landlords would start complaining like me. Down with the trees."

"Just wanted to thank the person who found my cell phone at Martin's on Dual Highway. I am glad to know that there are still honest people around."

"I just wanted to say something about the senior citizens. Now that we are all getting older, after a while we won't be here. Try not to pick on us anymore. You young people can have the world when we are gone, but for now, leave us alone."

- Chewsville
