Fire destroys mobile home in Berkeley County

February 09, 2005

FALLING WATERS, W.Va. - A Tuesday afternoon fire destroyed a single-wide mobile home at Sportsman's Paradise in Berkeley County, but nobody was injured, according to a fire official.

The fire was reported at 1:58 p.m. at a home on Dillweed Drive and firefighters were on the scene until 3:44 p.m., according to a 911 dispatcher.

William Markley, deputy chief at Bedington Volunteer Fire Department, said a neighbor told emergency crews that nobody was home when the fire began.

It took firefighters about half an hour to extinguish the blaze, he said.

Crews from Washington County, Berkeley County Office of Emergency Services and Hedgesville (W.Va.) Volunteer Fire Department responded to assist firefighters from Bedington, Markley said.
