BOONSBORO - The Boonsboro Town Council on Monday night agreed to support the creation of a local council of governments that would include all Washington County municipalities and the county government.
Caren Cramer, a member of Boonsboro High School's Citizen's Advisory Council, presented a proposal asking town council members to support the concept.
Cramer presented a report that outlined a number of the council's concerns regarding the long-term impact of projected population growth in Washington County.
Quoting a Feb. 3 story from the Washington Post, Cramer said studies indicate a projected 2 million more people, 830,000 more homes and 1.6 million new jobs will expand west to Loudoun County, Va., and north to Frederick County, Md., by 2030.
