The Sturtzes

Elvin "Bill" and Phyllis Sturtz celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Friday, Jan. 28, 2005, at a dinner at Nick's Airport Inn, hosted by their daughter and spouse, Kim and Charlie Ridenour.

The Sturtzes were married Jan. 28, 1955 at Evangelical United Brethren Church by the late Rev. John W. Fisher.

Mrs. Sturtz is the daughter of the late Vernon and Viola Bennett. She worked previously at Maryland National Bank and also managed St. John's Episcopal Turnover Shop.

Mr. Sturtz is the son of the late Elvin Sr. and Ethel Sturtz. He is a World War II veteran and retired after 50 years of service with Reisner Inc.

The Gilfuses

Dan and Michelle Gilfus of 25331 Highfield Road in Cascade were guests of honor at a surprise 25th wedding anniversary party at Blue Ridge Summit Sportsmen's Club. The event was hosted by their family. Guests attended from Texas, Florida, Georgia, Maryland and Pennsylvania.


The Gilfuses also celebrated with a four-day trip to Niagara Falls, Canada.

They were married June 24, 1979, at Church of the Transfiguration, Blue Ridge Summit, Pa., by the Rev. M. Edward Messersmith.

Mrs. Gilfus is the daughter of Joan Knott of Cascade. She is employed with Synergy Healing Arts Center in Blue Ridge Summit.

Mr. Gilfus is the son of Geraldine Gilfus of Smithsburg and the late William Gilfus. He is employed by Fairchild Controls in Frederick, Md.

They have three children, William Gilfus of Shippensburg, Pa., Rebecca Gilfus of Cascade and Andrew Gilfus of Indiana, Pa.
