IceFest 2005

Skills Olympics


Tri-State-area apprentices in carpentry, electrical, and HVAC-R will compete in annual Skills Olympics. Today, 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., Cumberland Valley Chapter of Associated Builders and Contractors, 219 Frederick St., Hagerstown. Free and open to the public. Lunch will be provided. Poetry workshop


Storyteller and poet Crystal Brown will present a poetry-writing workshop. Children in grades two through six are invited to attend the hour-long session. WinterFest


This weekend's activities include free public skating today from noon to 3:50 p.m.; figure skating exhibition today at 7 p.m. (cost is $15 for adults and $5 for children 11 and younger); and hockey game featuring Philadelphia Flyers alumni against the Hagerstown Bulldogs Sunday at 2 p.m. (tickets cost $15 for adults or $10 in advance, children 11 and younger, $5). Washington County Public Schools presents a concert by members of the All County Middle and High School concert bands and High School Jazz Ensemble. Today, 7:30 p.m., North Hagerstown High School, 1200 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown. Tickets cost $4 in advance and $5 at the door, and may be purchased from participating students and directors. Senior Citizen Gold Cards and ID cards from Washington County Public Schools will be honored.
