He was a member and past master of General James Chambers Lodge 801, served on the American Red Cross Board of Directors, was a member of Civil War Research Lodge 1865 of Virginia, Chambersburg Community Theatre and Quiet Birdmen, among other organizations.

He is survived by his wife, Emma Keefer Metzgar Gross, whom he married in 1989; one son, David W. Gross of Chambersburg; one stepdaughter, Kelley Martin of Fayetteville, Pa.; one brother, Paul Gross of Fayetteville; one stepgrandson; and his former wife, Patricia S. Gross of Chambersburg.

Services will be Saturday at 10 a.m. at Trinity Episcopal Church in Chambersburg. The Rev. David W. Robinson will officiate. Burial will follow in Lincoln Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Friday from 6 to 9 p.m. at Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home in Chambersburg, where members of General James Chambers Lodge 801 will conduct Masonic services at 8 p.m.

Jerome Acree, 42, of 907 Guilford Ave., Hagerstown, died Wednesday, Jan. 26, 2005, at his home.

Born April 13, 1962, in Baltimore, he was the son of the late Nicholas Arnette and Florabelle Acree.

He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church.

He is survived by his wife, April E. Acree; one son, Jerome Acree Jr., at home; and 11 sisters and brothers.

Services will be Saturday at 9:30 a.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, East Wilson Boulevard, Hagerstown. The Rev. Robert E. Morey will officiate. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.

The family will receive friends Friday from 7 to 9 p.m.




Beulah K. Howarth, 89


MARCH 17, 1915-JAN. 21, 2005

WILLIAMSPORT - Beulah Kotis Howarth, 89, of Williamsport, died Friday, Jan. 21, 2005, at Homewood Nursing Home, Williamsport.

She was born March 17, 1915, in Baltimore.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, George Kotis.

She was a member of the Roman Catholic Church.

She is survived by her husband, George Howarth; one son, Joseph C. Tischer; two grandchildren, Tracy and Matthew.

She was preceded in death by three sisters, Rita, Stella and Madeline; and four brothers, Edmund, Matthew, Henry and William.

The family received friends Monday from 5 to 8 p.m. at Connelly Funeral Home, Dundalk, Md.

Burial in Oaklawn Cemetery, in Baltimore, followed a 10 a.m. mass.

The time of visitation for Dorothy Elizabeth Smith Mumma, 93, formerly of Potomac Towers, Hagerstown, who died Sunday, Jan. 23, 2005, has been changed.

Visitation will be today from 7 to 9 p.m. at Gerald N. Minnich Funeral Home, 305 N. Potomac St., Hagerstown.
