Breast Cancer Awareness gets checks

January 23, 2005

Breast Cancer Awareness-Cumberland Valley Inc. (BCA-CV) recently received checks totaling $11,480 from two local organizations.

Office Suppliers Inc. recently presented a check for $7,600 to BCA-CV with money raised through Office Suppliers Inc.'s "Think Pink" Steelcase Think Chair sale.

Treva Ghattas, furniture sales manager for Officer Suppliers, said a portion of the sale from each Think Chair sold went to help BCA-CV to provide support for those dealing with breast cancer.

The chair was sold as part of the Breast Cancer Awareness Month campaign to raise consciousness about the lifesaving importance of early detection.

BCA-CV also received a check for $3,880 from Teamsters Local 992.

The money was raised from the Teamsters' 17th annual golf tournament in August at Greencastle Greens.

Tom Krause, principal executive officer of Teamsters Local 992, said the union chose Breast Cancer Awareness-Cumberland Valley to help aid in the fight against breast cancer. Cori Stotler, office manager, said that each year, the union's representatives, employees, members and management participate in a golf tournament with the funds raised going to help a local charity.
