Associated Builders and Contractors

The Cumberland Valley Chapter of Associated Builders and Contractors will hold its annual Skills Olympics on Jan. 29.

The event will be from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Associated Builders and Contractors at 219 Frederick St. in Hagerstown.

The competition will include third- and fourth-year apprentices from Washington, Frederick and Allegany counties in Maryland; Franklin and Fulton counties in Pennsylvania; and Berkeley, Mineral and Morgan counties in West Virginia.

The apprentices will compete in three trades - carpentry, electrical and HVAC-R.

Winners of the Skills Olympics will compete later this year in the National ABC Construction Skills Olympics in Orlando, Fla.

Brechbill & Helman Construction Co.

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. -Brechbill & Helman Construction Co. recently was awarded a design/build contract for the new Crest Ford dealership.


The $2.1 million, 20,000-square-foot facility will be at Walker Road and the new Gateway Avenue. The architect for the project is SGS Architects Engineers of Carlisle Pa.

MANITOWOC, Wis. - The Manitowoc Co. Inc. will announce its fourth-quarter 2004 financial results after the market closes on Feb. 7, and will broadcast its conference call live over the Internet at 10 a.m. on Feb. 8.

Those who wish to listen to the conference call should visit the investor relations section of the company's Web site at at least 15 minutes before the broadcast.

Once at the investor relations section, those who wish to listen will need to follow the instructions provided to assure that the necessary audio applications are downloaded and installed.

FREDERICK, Md. - The Frederick County Office for Children and Families has announced its top 10 family-friendly businesses for 2005.

The top 10 businesses are Advocates for Homeless Families Inc., Frederick County Day Montessori School, Frederick Memorial Hospital, SAIC-Frederick Inc., Sandy Spring Bank and Sunrise of Frederick, all of Frederick; Structural Systems Inc. and Thurmont Child Care Center, both of Thurmont, Md.; Children's Center Group Inc. in Glenwood, Md.; and Buckeystown (Md.) Veterinary Hospital.

Coca-Cola Enterprises, Morgan-Keller Construction and Severn, O'Connor & Kresslein P.A., all of Frederick, received honorable mention.
