Stores changing at Prime Outlets

January 14, 2005|by JULIE E. GREENE

Two stores closed, some stores are moving and new stores will be arriving at Prime Outlets at Hagerstown, the general manager said Thursday.

Maidenform left at the end of December because the lease expired and American Outpost left Jan. 3, Prime Outlets' General Manager Bill Lynn said.

Lynn said he expects to announce the names of new stores in a few weeks.

Some stores are relocating within the outlet center because they want more or less space, he said. Some larger spaces will be divided to bring in other tenants.

The Lightstone Group, one of the outlet center's owners, is being aggressive about growth and wants the outlet center to grow, Lynn said.

Outlet center officials always are talking to developers about outparcels at the outlet center south of Hagerstown, Lynn said.

The outlet center's traffic increased from approximately 4.1 million visitors in 2003 to more than 4.5 million visitors in 2004, Lynn said. Sales also increased in 2004, but Lynn said he could not reveal specific sales figures.

Lightstone also owns Martinsburg Mall in West Virginia, he said.
