Most county offices to close for holiday


Washington County government will close most offices and services on Monday in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

County Commuter transportation service will run its regular bus routes on that day.




Temporary measure is taken at annex


Due to renovations at the Washington County Courthouse Annex Building, the handicapped-accessible entrance on Summit Avenue will be closed from Jan. 18 through June 10, according to a press release from the county. This entrance provides accessibility for people with disabilities to the courthouse, Circuit Court and other offices in the Courthouse/Annex complex.

A temporary handicapped-accessible entrance has been prepared on the West Washington Street side of the courthouse.

All County Orchestra concert is Jan. 22


Washington County Public Schools will present the 2005 All County Orchestra concert Saturday, Jan. 22, at 7:30 p.m. at North Hagerstown High School.

The concert will include orchestra students from around the county.

The event features the All County Senior High School Orchestra with guest conductor Elizabeth Schulze, conductor for the Maryland Symphony Orchestra and the All County Middle School String Orchestra with guest conductor Hector Manuel Zavala Martinez

Tickets cost $5 at the door or $4 in advance and can be purchased from participating students. Tickets also are available at the following schools: Clear Spring Middle and High, Boonsboro Middle and High, E. Russell Hicks Middle, Northern Middle, North Hagerstown High, Smithsburg Middle and High, South Hagerstown High, Springfield Middle, Western Heights Middle and Williamsport High.
