Roundup - Knights rout 'Roaders in tourney final

BRUNSWICK, Md. - Kristen Waeber and Amanda Kinna combined for 20 points in the first quarter as Middletown shot out to a 24-2 lead on its way to a 62-20 rout of Brunswick in the championship game of the Carol Smith Brunswick Holiday Tournament.

Waeber, the tournament MVP, finished with 19 points, while Kinna had 16 for the Knights (7-1), who led 37-3 at halftime.

Leah McCallum had 12 points and 11 rebounds to lead Brunswick (1-6).

Kinna, McCallum and Brunswick's Diane Wingfield joined Waeber on the all-tournament team.

St. John's-PH 49, Frederick 42

BRUNSWICK, Md. - Marah Strickland had 28 points and 13 rebounds to lead St. John's-PH to a win over Frederick in the consolation game of the Carol Smith Brunswick Holiday Tournament.

Molly Wilkin added eight points for the Vikings (2-9) while Elise Boyle pulled down 11 rebounds.

Kristie Sweeney scored 12 points for the Cadets (3-4) while Ronika Beard and Stephanie Naylor each had seven.


Strickland and Sweeney were named to the all-tourney team.

Huntington Tournament

Woodrow Wilson 50, Martinsburg 46

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - Stephanie Harrold scored 13 points for Martinsburg in its loss to Woodrow Wilson (1-3) in the consolation game.

Jamie Robinson had nine points and four rebounds for the Bulldogs (3-2) while Ashley Roman had eight points and three assists.

JB Christmas Tournament

J. Buchanan 54, James Wood (Va.) 27

MERCERSBURG, Pa. - Alicia Myers had 15 points and five steals as James Buchanan doubled up James Wood (Va.) in the consolation game.

Leanna Cristofano had 11 points and five steals and Shaina Martin added eight points and 10 rebounds for the Rockets (7-3). Courtney Rouzer had four assists in the win.

In the championship game, Susquehanna Township beat Brandywine Heights, also 54-27.

Richard E. Doub Classic

Boonsboro 59, Williamsport 41

WILLIAMSPORT - Jerica Hewett had 19 points, six assists and seven steals as Boonsboro rolled past Williamsport in the consolation game of the Richard E. Doub Classic on Tuesday afternoon.

Jessie Ambrose had 12 points, Alex Baker had 10 and Caitlyn Selby added eight to go with seven rebounds for the Warriors (5-3). Amy Rhoderick grabbed nine rebounds.

Adrienne Munoz and Lindsey Smith each had eight points for Williamsport.


JB Christmas Tournament

Smithsburg 58, York Tech 48

MERCERSBURG, Pa. - Clay Marquiss had 23 points and 15 rebounds and Tyler King added six points and seven rebounds as Smithsburg (3-3) defeated York Tech in the consolation game.

Frederick News-Post Holiday Classic

Walkersville 79, Frederick 67

FREDERICK, Md. - Luther Weedon scored 11 of his game-high 33 points in the third quarter as Walkersville outscored Frederick 25-8 in the period to win the championship at Frederick Community College.

Chris Hannigan had 18 points and nine rebounds, while Dave Berry handed out six assists for the Lions (7-1).

Steve Custis led Frederick (3-5) with 21 points, while Chris Thompson and Quinton Beard each added 11.

Holiday Tournament at Poolesville

Magruder 58, Tuscarora 53

POOLESVILLE, Md. - Hamilton Woodfolk had 16 points and Malcolm Kattes added 13, but Tuscarora couldn't dig out of an early hole in falling to Magruder in the championship game.

The Titans (6-1) trailed 38-18 at haltime and trailed by as much as 22 in the second half before a 9-0 run and constant chipping away closed the lead to single digits, but turnovers and missed opportunities stalled the rally.

Woodfolk and Kattes each grabbed seven rebounds, while Chris Castro had 11 points and five steals.


Florida Southern 65, Shepherd 59

LAKELAND, Fla. - Danley Shank hit four 3-pointers and had a game-high 25 points, but Shepherd University fell to the unbeaten hosts at the Florida Southern Holiday Classic.

Ryan Peterson had 12 points, while Darren Stackhouse added a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds for the Rams (3-6), who will play Montevallo today at 5:30.

Ellery Boykin led Florida Southern (10-0) with 23 points.

§Baldwin-Wallace 88, Hood 58

HAMPDEN-SYDNEY, Va. - Santo Provenzano had 19 points and seven rebounds, but Hood College fell to Baldwin-Wallace in the "Weenie" Miller Memorial Tournament at Hampden-Sydney College.

Sean Robine added 15 points, while South Hagerstown grad Jesse Gutegunst chipped in with four points and seven rebounds for the Blazers (5-4), who will take on Eastern College in the consolation game this afternoon at 2.
