"I want to say good luck to Gary Starliper Sr. on your surgery at Johns Hopkins Hospital on Dec. 29, 2004, from your friends at AC&T. Thank you."

"Where are those beautiful lights on Mulberry? We rode around that block so many times looking for something spectacular that we were stopped for cruising. Thanks to the caller for getting us stopped and all for nothing. We didn't see anything beautiful or spectacular. Just the same old lights that everyone else has up. There are so many wonderful and beautiful lights in this county, such as the ones out on Clopper Road, just to mention one. Mulberry Street has nothing to brag about, in our opinion."

"As a parent at Boonsboro High School and Middle School, I would like to know why the contract drivers pick up their high school kids, then go over and pick up the middle school kids and then they come back through to the high school to hit the alley, to go down the alleys to hit lights and get out of town soon. No one does it but contract drivers. I think the Board of Education should look into this, even though they are contract drivers. Someone is going to get hit out there by children going to their cars and from parking lot to parking lot to get in with their parents. I know this because I see this every day. Maybe someone from the Board of Education will see this and take notice before someone gets killed."

"To the person who put in about a dog should have shelter day and night, of course that's the law, so the person should call the Humane Society and report this atrocity."

"To the caller looking for the veteran who was a German in World War II and fought against the Russians to later become an American Special Forces officer, his name is Dieter H.B. Protsch. He recently published his memoirs with the title 'Be All You Can Be.' You can also find his book on the NBC 25 Web site. It is available on the Internet by searching under his name on Google. You can probably find it at Books 'n Things under local authors. Thank you."

"Hello, I just moved to this area recently, Hagerstown. I've only been here about two months. I am an MS patient and I would like to know if anyone out there knows if there is an MS support group in the area. I would greatly appreciate this. Thank you so much. Have a great day. Bye."

"I just want to say that I hope people are paying attention to the news - the real news - about the war in Iraq. And I hope everyone will sit back and reflect during this holiday season on what we've sacrificed as a nation and George Bush's war in Iraq, a war that was a terrible mistake and has gone horribly, horribly wrong - even more than they predicted. It wasn't the cakewalk they said it would be. The end game isn't working. They need to fix it. They refuse to change. Donald Rumsfeld should go. George Bush - what a mistake. The people of America re-elected him somehow. I don't understand."

"Well, it took me forever to read Tim Rowland's column today, Dec. 22. I was laughing so much, I had to keep stopping and starting over again. It was so funny, that column. Keep up the good work, Tim. We love you."

"How sad. A flier was in the mail for a big sale at Hecht's Sunday, Dec. 26, from 6 to 10 a.m. Stores are very concerned about having customers spend their money. Lots of people go to church. Businesses should show some respect for workers and shoppers who do attend church."

"I'm just calling because it is such a nice day out on Wednesday, Dec. 22, except that the smell of sewage permeating the air is so bad that you just can't stand it. I wish the mayor and his council and his people at the sewage board would get to work and fix this mess, or I hope they get sued. Thank you and goodbye."

"I'd like to say that I am just a little disappointed to realize that our gas prices are still at $1.79 a gallon when in the next county over, I can get it for as little as $1.65 a gallon. What's going on?"

"Hi, Washington County. If anyone else was affected by the ticket parade that the Hagerstown Police Department did on Garland Groh Boulevard on Sunday, just call in and let us know about it. It happened this past Sunday - all the tickets they wrote on Garland Groh to all the shoppers. I think it's a big bah humbug to the Hagerstown Police Department."

n

"Yes, Washington County, I just read in tonight's paper owners of properties might have to clean up in the county after 70 days. I wish the County Commissioners would come out Salem Avenue Extended and take a good look at this old silo mess westbound on 58 West. Thank you."

n

"Congratulations, Vicky and Gary on your first grandchild. I know you will make wonderful grandparents. I am so happy for you. John and I really miss you in church. God bless all of you. Love, Phyllis."
