December 26, 2004

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - A woman and her son escaped from a back window when their Warm Spring Road house caught fire Saturday morning, a fire official said.

The kitchen and an open living room and dining room area were destroyed by the fire, Franklin Fire Co. Assistant Chief Steve Himes said.

A Franklin County, Pa., emergency dispatcher said firefighters were sent to 440 Warm Spring Road, near Chambersburg, at 1:22 a.m. and they stayed until 3:35 a.m.

The woman and her son drove themselves to a hospital, Himes said. He did not know their names.

He said the cause of the fire at the single-family, one-story house is under investigation.
