MARTINSBURG, W.VA. - Police on Monday were looking for the person who shot a Waynesboro, Pa., man in the wrist outside the Leather and Lace club along Winchester Avenue early Sunday.

The club, also known as K.C.'s Bar and Grill, is south of the intersection of W.Va. 9, U.S. 11 and W.Va. 45.

When police arrived, the victim, Dawyud Bowenes, was in the back of the club, said West Virginia State Police Senior Trooper N.A. Harmon. Bowenes was shot in the right wrist with a handgun, he said.

Staff from the bar wrapped Bowenes' wrist in an attempt to control the bleeding, Harmon said.

Bowenes, 22, of 208 N. Potomac St., was taken to City Hospital and later to Washington County Hospital where he was listed in fair condition Monday night, Harmon and a hospital official said.

Bowenes, who was shot outside the club at about 2:30 a.m., told police he did not know who shot him, Harmon said.

The assailant either fled the area on foot or left in a car, Harmon said.

The club includes a bar and features nude dancing, Harmon said.
