BOONSBORO - A 16-year-old Boonsboro boy was listed in critical condition Friday night at Washington County Hospital following an afternoon accident on Alternate U.S. 40 in which a fuel truck and his car collided.

Maryland State Police said in a written release that about 4:20 p.m., Adam Robert Dellinger, 16, of 6111 Moser Road in Boonsboro, was making a left-hand turn in his car from the westbound lane of Alternate U.S. 40 into M&T Bank, at 7620 Old National Pike, and drove directly into the path of a fuel truck.

Dellinger's 1991 Eagle Talon was struck directly in the passenger side door by a 1998 International 4700 fuel truck, which was being driven by Darrell Lee Ecton, 46, of 4659 Greensburg Road in Martinsburg, W.Va., police said.

Both drivers were wearing their seat belts, according to the release.

On impact, Dellinger's car was pushed over a curb into a grass area in front of the bank, the release states.
