Urbana's late rally stops North

IJAMSVILLE, Md. - Ryan Brandenburg made five 3-pointers on the way to a game-high 26 points Friday as Urbana outscored North Hagerstown 27-10 in the fourth quarter for a 69-59 victory to remain undefeated.

Quielan Gantt led North (2-2) with 16 points, while Chris Grove and Dee Mency each added 14. Tyrell Wilson had 13 rebounds, Colby Thompson had nine and Jarell Rodriguez dished out seven assists.

Thomas Johnson 64, Walkersville 53

WALKERSVILLE, Md. - Jair Brady had 17 points and Clinton Jones had 16 to lead Thomas Johnson over Walkersville in an MVAL nonconference matchup.

Luther Weedon had 17 points and eight rebounds to lead Walkersville (3-1). Chris Hannigan had 14 points, Brandon Geppert had eight rebounds and Dave Berry had seven assists.


Tim Abercrombie had 10 points for the Patriots (4-0).

Goretti 66, Bishop McCort 47

HOLLIDAYSBURG, Pa. - In the Hollidaysburg Tournament, Gene Johnson scored 20 points, while Joey Spierenburg added 12 to lead St. Maria Gorretti to a victory in the opening round of the Hollidaysburg Tournament.

Kevin Brashears had six rebounds, three assists and three steals for Goretti (5-1).

Pete O'Conor led Bishop McCort with 16 points.

Steel-High 71, Chambersburg 58

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Chris Caferd scored 20 points and Shawn Alexander added 19 to lead Steel-High (7-0) over Chambersburg (5-2).

Johnatan Motichka scored 10 and Chas Rahauser scored 13 points for Cambersburg.

Tuscarora 79, North Carroll 47

FREDERICK, Md. - Mitchell Weedon had 17 points as Tuscarora placed five players in double figures in a rout of North Carroll.

Chris Castro had 16 points, Malcolm Kattes 14, Hamilton Woodfolk 11 and Danny Reed 10 for the Titans (4-0). Woodfolk also had eight rebound, Weedon and Reed had seven and Brian Sweeney had six assists.

Middletown 77, Catoctin 42

THURMONT, Md. - Jonathan Hall had 19 points and seven rebounds while Middletown drained 10 3-pointers en route to pounding Catoctin in MVAL nonconference action.

Joe Keimig added 15 points, four steals and three assists for Middletown (3-1).

John Tumulty had 12 points for Catoctin (1-3).

Southern Fulton 57, Tussey Mountain 40

WARFORDSBURG, Pa. - Jay Ifert had 15 points and seven rebounds as Southern Fulton remained unbeaten with a Sideling Hill League victory over Tussey Mountain.

Ifert added four steals, three assists and three blocks while Chris Krause had 10 points and seven rebounds for the Indians (5-0, 3-0).

Thad Chamberlain led Tussey Mountain (1-3, 1-2) with 22 points.

New Life 64, Faith 48

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Sean Macleal had 22 points as New Life Christian jumped out to a 39-20 halftime lead and eased past Faith Christian in Mason Dixon Christian Conference action.

John Reginaldi added 14 points for the Rams (5-1, 2-0).

Justin Way had 19 points and six assists and Chris Apple had 18 points and 12 rebounds for Faith (1-4, 0-3).

McConnellsburg 63, Hyndman 43

McCONNELLSBURG, Pa. - Dave Thomas had team-highs of 18 points and 20 rebounds as McConnellsburg routed Hyndman in the Sideling Hill League.

Russell Glazier had 14 points and six assists and J.J. Grace added nine points for the Spartans (4-3, 2-2).

Shalom 41, Grace 24

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - David Hardcastle had a team-high nine points as Grace Academy (2-2, 2-2) dropped an MDCC contest to Shalom Christian (3-3, 2-0).

Bible Baptist 73, CVCS 66

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Jordan McBeth had 22 points, but missed five free throw attempts, as Cumberland Valley Christian made only 10 of 29 foul shots in a home loss to York Bible Baptist.

Despite the foul shooting troubles, the Blazers (2-5) managed to narrow a 15-point second-half deficit to 68-66 in the final minutes, but couldn't complete the comeback as Bible Baptist scored the final five points.

Adam Romero had 12 points and five steals, while Aaron Friese added 11 points and Charlie Coleman pulled down 17 rebounds in the loss.

Paul Hurlbert had a game-high 33 points to lead Bible Baptist.


Martinsburg 75, Hancock 32

HANCOCK - Mary Jean Pavlik had 15 points and Aryn Dimagno had 14 as Martinsburg rolled past Hancock in the Apple Valley League opener for both teams.

Jamie Robinson added nine points for the Bulldogs (2-0, 1-0), who outscored Hancock by at least eight points in each quarter.

Dana Beaver had 14 points, while Jennifer Willison had 12 points and 12 rebounds for the Panthers (1-3, 0-1). Amber Moats had nine rebounds.

Linganore 64, Brunswick 43

BRUNSWICK, Md. - Megan Seeman had 16 points as Linganore rolled past Brunswick in an MVAL nonconference game, keeping the Railroaders winless this season.

Brianne Walters led Brunswick (0-4) with 15 points and seven rebounds and Leah McCallum had 11 rebounds.

Catoctin 51, Middletown 46

MIDDLETOWN, Md. - Becky Cuddahee had 15 points, including four clutch free throws late in the game, as Catoctin handed Middletown its first loss of the season.

Emily Balogh added 14 points, five rebounds and four assists for the Cougars (3-1), who made 22 of 25 foul shots.
