Police seek man who exposed himself


The Hagerstown Police Department has released a sketch and description of a man wanted in two exposure incidents this month.

Police said a man has exposed himself twice in less than one week.

On Dec. 9, at about 9:40 a.m., a man in a maroon station wagon pulled beside a woman in the 1100 block of Oak Hill Avenue and exposed himself, according to police.

On Dec. 14, at about 4:15 p.m., a man, also in a maroon station wagon, exposed himself to a juvenile near Hillcrest Road, police said. The girl, who was on her way home from school, said a young boy was in the front seat of the car at the time of the incident, according to police.

Police described the man wanted in the incident as a white man, likely in his 20s, with short dark hair, wearing jeans and a dark coat.

Police ask that anyone with information on the incidents call investigators at 301-790-3700, ext. 234.




Sheriff's deputies respond to calls


The Washington County Sheriff's Department responded to the following calls on Tuesday:

· A white 1998 Hyundai Accent, with Maryland license plate JER136, was reported stolen from the parking lot of the AC&T fuel center on Hopewell Road. The value of the car was not given.

· A Chevrolet Corvette was stolen from the 10800 block of Lincoln Heights in Halfway between 9 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. The value of the car was not given.

· A wallet was stolen from Ollie's Bargain Outlet on Massey Boulevard in Halfway. About $400, credit cards and other miscellaneous items were in the wallet.

· A 2003 Mitsubishi Lancer in the 18400 block of Bull Run Drive, south of Hagerstown, was scratched with a sharp object. About $3,000 damage was done to the driver and passenger doors.




Frederick woman faces theft charges


FREDERICK, Md. - A Frederick woman was charged Tuesday in connection with the disappearance of thousands of dollars from a county school's parent-teacher-student association, the Frederick County Sheriff's Department said.

Sheryl Lue Ann Chisolm, 41, of 5906 Riverwood Court, was charged with 18 counts, including theft more than $500, theft less than $500, forgery, uttering false documents and theft scheme more than $500.

Deputies allege Chisolm, who had been vice president of the Oakdale Middle School PTSA, embezzled about $19,300 during the 2003-04 school year from the group, which sponsored school dances. Deputies allege she made checks payable to herself and forged signatures of PTSA officials during her tenure as vice president.

Chisolm turned herself in to authorities on Tuesday, and was released on her own recognizance, deputies said.




Checkpoint planned this week in county


Maryland State Police, the Washington County Sheriff's Department and the Hagerstown Police Department will be conducting a joint sobriety checkpoint throughout the week on highways in Washington County, state police said.

Police said officers will conduct a checkpoint and roving patrols in an attempt to remove drunken drivers from area roads during the preholiday season.




Handgun, cash stolen from Hancock home


HANCOCK - A handgun was among the items report stolen Tuesday from a Hancock residence, the Washington County Sheriff's Department said.

Deputies said a town resident reported at 5:17 p.m. that a .38-caliber handgun, a camcorder and cash had been stolen from a home in the 13700 block of Orchard Ridge Road. The victim, whose name was not released, said the front door of the home was kicked in.

The investigation continued Wednesday evening.




Man injured when train, car collide


MT. AIRY, Md. - A Damascus, Md., man's car was struck by a train Wednesday as he attempted to drive it over railroad tracks near a crossing at Old Mill Bottom Road, Maryland State Police said.

Michael A. Lee, 48, of 25720 Valley Park Terrace, was driving a 1995 Mercury Sable when it collided with a CSX train carrying a load of new cars, according to police. Police said it is unclear why Lee attempted to cross the tracks at that location because there was an actual crossing area about 80 feet from the point of impact.

Police said Lee was flown to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore. His condition was not available Wednesday night.

Police were investigating the incident late Wednesday.
