Movies opening this week



"The Aviator" (PG-13) - The film tells the story of aviation pioneer Howard Hughes (Leonardo DiCaprio), the eccentric billionaire industrialist and Hollywood film mogul, famous for romancing some of the world's most beautiful women. The drama recounts his life from the late 1920s through the 1940s, an era when Hughes was directing and producing Hollywood movies and test flying innovative aircraft he designed and created. Alan Alda, Alec Baldwin, Kate Beckinsale and Cate Blanchett star.

"Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events" (PG) - Three young orphans, looking for a home, are taken in by a series of odd relatives and others, including Lemony Snicket, who narrates the film, and starting with the dastardly Count Olaf, who hopes to snatch their inheritance from them. Jim Carrey, Meryl Streep, Emily Browning, Kara Hoffman and Liam Aiken star.
