City man charged in Sunday assault


A Hagerstown man was arrested in connection with an assault on a juvenile involving a knife Sunday, the Hagerstown Police Department said.

James F. Doyle, 32, of 453 W. Antietam St., Apt. 3, is charged with first- and second-degree assault and reckless endangerment, according to police.

Police allege Doyle placed a knife to the victim's throat after he had gone to the West Antietam Street apartment to pick up his girlfriend's sister. The incident was reported just before 7:30 p.m., police said.

Police said Doyle was taken into custody without incident.

The victim, whose name was not released Sunday, was treated at Washington County Hospital for a minor laceration to the neck and released, according to police.

Hagerstown woman faces assault charge


A Hagerstown woman was charged in a fight early Sunday in the 100 block of East Avenue, the Hagerstown Police Department said.

Nicole S. DeMar, 24, of 207 N. Mulberry St., Apt. 3, is charged with second-degree assault, reckless endangerment and disorderly conduct, according to police.

Police allege DeMar, during an argument, grabbed a knife and began advancing at her mother, who was not identified by name, about 12:30 a.m.

Police said the victim sustained a minor laceration to the hand and did not require medical treatment.
