Brown leads HCC to Md. JuCo victory

Dee Brown had 14 points, eight assists and three steals to lead Hagerstown Community College to a 77-35 victory over Anne Arundel in a Maryland JuCo Conference game at the HCC athletic complex on Saturday.

Chrissy Ennis and Veronica Johnson each added 13 points for the Hawks (8-3, 4-1), while Erica McDavid had 12 of the team's 55 rebounds.


Middletown 58, Brunswick 56

BRUNSWICK, Md. - Middletown overcame a sluggish third quarter and rallied to beat Brunswick on Friday.

Joe Keimig led the Knights with 21 points. Joel Hafner had 24 points and Billy Bernard had 15 for the Railroaders.


Faith 28, Grace 26

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Kristen Williams scored the game-winning basket with 12 seconds left as Faith Christian won its Mason Dixon Christian Conference opener over Grace Academy on Friday night.


Williams finished with 14 points and Danielle Kerns had 11 in the victory.

Megan Cox had 16 points and 13 rebounds to lead Grace (1-4, 0-2).

Walkersville 74, North 60

WALKERSVILLE, Md. - Chelsea Clark had 22 points, 10 rebounds and two blocks, while Cara Thompson had 23 points, five assists and four steals for the Hubs (1-1) in a loss to Walkersville on Friday.

Blue Storm wins 2 of 3

STEVENSON, Md. - Mercersburg Academy rebounded from a first-round loss to win both of its games Saturday in the St. Timothy Tournament.

Alice Walton had 14 points and Kelsey Roman had 12 to lead the Blue Storm over St. Timothy, 51-34. In the final game Saturday, Brittany Lattisaw had 15 points and Walton had 11 in a 43-31 win over Park School.

Lattisaw had 12 points in a 64-31 loss to Walsingham on Friday.


Max Horst Invitational

BERKELEY SPRINGS, W.Va - Hedgesville finished third in the 16-team Berkeley Springs invitational with 154 1/2 points. The tournament was won by DeMatha with 191 points.

Troy Foltz (152) and Derrick Young (189) won their weight classes, while Dustin Foltz (145) and Jared Sella (160) each finished third for the Eagles. Joe Shetler (119) and Justin Everhart (160) each finished fifth.

Blue Storm sweeps

MERCERSBURG, Pa. - Mercersburg Academy went 3-0 at its Mercersburg Duals.

The Blue Storm (5-0) beat Lawrenceville (N.J.) 61-15, Western Reserve (Ohio) 68-9 and Wyoming Seminary (Pa.), 52-29.

Nick Mazzei (119 pounds), Sam Carrasco (125), Bobby Wolford (130), Peter Huntley (135), Conor McPartland (145), Ryan Reid (160) and Matt Englehart (171, 189) each went 3-0 for Mercersburg.

Mazzei, Wolford, Reid and Brad Nielson (171) each improved to 10-0 for the season.


Jefferson sweeps Dominion

SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. -Michelle Litwin, Katelyn Ray, Page Grantham and Maria Romano won the girls 400-yard freestyle relay for Jefferson (4-1) in its win over Dominion.

Alex Tice won the boys 200 freestyle in 2:14.42 and the 500 freestyle in 5:29.84 for the Jefferson boys, who improved to 4-1 on the season.


Episcopal 7, Mercersburg 2

MERCERSBURG, Pa. - Kelly Barrett and Kacey Ko recorded wins in Mercersburg's loss to Episcopal.
