Financial Aid Night planned at Pa. school

WAYNESBORO, Pa. - The Counseling Department of Waynesboro Area Senior High School will hold a Financial Aid Night on Tuesday at 7 p.m. in the school's auditorium.

The evening will offer parents and students (grades 9-12) the chance to learn affordable ways to fund a college education. This is the second of four evening programs sponsored by the high school's counselors to help students and parents.

The program will provide information on completing financial aid forms, the Student Aid Report, loans, grants, scholarships and other options available for paying for college.

A financial aid officer from Shippensburg (Pa.) University and a financial services representative will provide the content for the evening.

Nativity display slated for Pa. church

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - The second Community Christmas Nativity Display will be Saturday, Dec. 18, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 50 Ragged Edge Road.


Nearly 100 different Nativity scenes from all over the world will be on display from noon to 4 p.m. Visitors also will be treated to holiday music and free refreshments. A live Nativity will be presented.

Salvation Army looking for donations

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - The Chambersburg Salvation Army needs to raise $350,000 during the Christmas season from mail appeals, the red kettle campaign, corporate donations and major gifts, according to a news release.

Red kettles are positioned at locations throughout Franklin County.

The Salvation Army also needs the following:

· Christmas gifts for children through the Angel Tree program.

· Coats for children and their families through the Salvation Army's coat drive.

· Food items.

Slots available in preschool classes

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - The Martinsburg-Berkeley County Parks and Recreation Department has slots available for children in the War Memorial Pre-School Program and its Mommy and Me class, according to a news release.

Musical acts sought for summer concerts

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - The Martinsburg-Berkeley County Parks and Recreation Department is seeking musical acts of all genres for the 2005 Summer Concert Series at War Memorial Park.

Musical acts may drop off a press kit containing a CD or tape at the Berkeley 2000 Recreation Center or mail it to 273 Woodbury Ave., Martinsburg, WV 25401.
