Rental store coming to South End

December 08, 2004|by JULIE E. GREENE

An Aaron Rents store is expected to open in a shopping center on Maryland Avenue within two months, said Ira Miller, who co-owns the shopping center that also includes Big Lots and Tuesday Morning.

The Baltimore-based partnership that owns the plaza, 1111 Maryland Avenue SM LLC, is considering subdividing the 50,000-square-foot former Phar-Mor space to generate more interest in that commercial space, Miller said.

Aaron Rents is a national company that rents or rents to own furniture and appliances such as televisions and refrigerators, Miller said.

Miller is the managing member in the partnership that includes Karl Verstandig, he said.

The partnership bought Towne Plaza from Hagers VF LLC for $3.1 million in November 2003, according to Maryland Department of Assessments and Taxation online records.
