EMS responds to 65 calls in Nov.

SMITHSBURG - Personnel at Smithsburg Emergency Services Inc. responded to 65 calls for service during the month of November, bringing the 2004 total to 876 responses as of Nov. 30.

Of the 65 calls for November, eight were to Frederick County, Md., and one was to Franklin County, Pa.

Eleven calls were in Smithsburg town limits while another five were in Hagerstown, five in Cascade, nine in Mount Aetna and seven in Leitersburg.

The most common call types were for vehicle/pedestrian accidents and chest pain, which accounted for 14 calls.

Forty-five patients were transported to area hospitals during the month. EMS personnel assisted on three fire-related calls during November, according to Capt. James Ulrich.
