Probable cause found in assault case
Washington County District Judge Ralph H. France II found probable cause during a hearing Tuesday on three charges against a Hagerstown man charged with cutting a man last month, according to court records.
George W. Smith, 33, of 27 Elizabeth St., is charged with first- and second-degree assault and reckless endangerment, records state.
Donald M. Gary, of Hagerstown, alleges that Smith cut him with a knife on West Washington Street on Nov. 5, records state.
Man waives right to hearing in assault case
A Washington County man charged following a Nov. 8 standoff waived his right to a preliminary hearing, which had been scheduled for Tuesday in Washington County District Court, according to court records.
Raymond James Hammersla Sr., 45, of 14327 Cearfoss Pike, is charged with two counts of first-degree assault, two counts of second-degree assault and two counts of reckless endangerment in connection with an incident at his home, records state.
