Hawkins extends holiday invitation

Boonsboro Town Councilman Richard Hawkins invited people to attend Old Tyme Christmas Friday night.

There will be a parade at 6:30 p.m., which will include Santa Claus riding a fire truck, Hawkins said during Monday's town council meeting.

The event, which will include lighting a Christmas tree, will be held rain or shine, Hawkins said.

Library to host holiday program

The Boonsboro branch of the Washington County Free Library is holding an annual holiday program at 11 a.m. Saturday at the community center in Shafer Park, Boonsboro Councilman Richard Hawkins said.

Homemade cookies and punch will be served at the event, he said during Monday's town council meeting.

The event, featuring storyteller Crystal Brown, is recommended for children ages 3 and older, Hawkins said.

Library book bags and cookbooks will be available for purchase at the event, he said.
