Waynesboro 54 Spring Grove 45


HUMMELSTOWN, Pa. - Sophomore Kevin Kline scored 18 points, including 11 in the second half, to lead Waynesboro over Spring Grove in the consolation game of the Lower Dauphin Tournament.

Kline, who led a 16-9 charge in the third period with six points, also pulled down a team-high seven rebounds. Josh Arendt added 14 points and Jordan Reitz had 11 for the Indians (1-1).

James Buchanan 71 Big Spring 44


BOILING SPRINGS, Pa. - Brandon Bryan had 20 points and Shane Rife had 16 as James Buchanan thumped Big Spring in the consolation game of the Boiling Springs Tournament.

Shase Hollenshead added 13 points for the Rockets (1-1), who led 38-13 at halftime.

Solebury 55 Mercersburg 51


HUDSON, Ohio - Eric Rahauser had 19 points, but Mercersburg Academy was outscored 27-13 at the free-throw line and fell to Solebury in overtime in the championship game of the Western Reserve Tournament. Colin Cubit and Eduardo Archibold Brown added seven points each in the loss.

STEPHENS CITY, Va. - Adam Romero had 27 points and seven steals and Charlie Coleman made four key free throws in the final 30 seconds to lift Cumberland Valley Christian in the third-place game of the Shenandoah Valley Christian Tournament.

Coleman finished with 10 points and nine rebounds, while Mike Kalathas had 11 points for CVCS (1-2).




GIRLS BASKETBALL



St. James wins tourney consolation



MERCERSBURG, Pa. - Kate Davis hit the game-winning free-throws with no time left to lift St. James past Broadfording Christian, 35-34, in the consolation game of the Mercersburg Academy Invitational Tournament.

Davis was fouled beyond the 3-point line as time expired and got three shots from the charity stripe. She missed the first attempt, but made the last two to send the Saints (2-3) to the win. Davis finished with a team-high 11 points, while Allie Beck added 10.

Tina Conner had 12 points and eight rebounds before fouling out to pace Broadfording (2-3). Leslie Brown had 10 points, while Emily Stransky added nine - including seven in the fourth quarter - to go with eight boards.




WOMEN'S BASKETBALL



Salisbury 84, Hood 51


SALISBURY, Md. - Danielle Allen scored 15 points and Danielle Gallagher added 14, but Hood College fell to Salisbury, which made 12 of 19 3-point attempts.




PREP WRESTLING



Mercersburg has 8 champs in wrestling


PHILIPPI, W.Va. - Mercersburg Academy had eight individual champions and all 12 wrestlers finished in the top four of their respective weights classes as the Blue Storm dominated the Philip Barbour Invitational Tournament to open the season.

Tyler Mort (112 pounds), Nick Mazzei (119), Bobby Wolford (135), Jonathan Edwards (140), Brian Moeller (145), Ryan Reid (152) and Brad Nielson (171) each won individual titles.

Mercersburg had 146 points to win the eight-team tournament, followed by Berkeley Springs with 71.




PREP SWIMMING



Jefferson sweeps Clarke County


SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. - Logan Zaggarella won the 100-yard butterfly and the 100 backstroke and Anne Alquist won the 100 freestyle as the Jefferson boys and girls swimming teams swept Clarke County at Shepherd University.

Martinsburg sweeps Buckhannon-Upshur


MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Jacob Henry won the 200-yard individual medley in 2 minutes, 21.35 seconds and the 100 flystroke in 1:12.5 and the Martinsburg boys team trounced Buckhannon-Upshur, 62-15.

The Bulldogs girls team had a little more trouble, but still notched a 47-44 win. Megan Hunt led the way with second-place finishes in the 500 freestyle (7:12.10) and the 100 backstroke (1:24.58).
