BERKELEY SPRINGS, W.Va. - Incumbent Circuit Clerk Kimberly J. Jackson remained the winner of the November general election following a recount on Wednesday.

Jackson, a Republican, had 3,739 votes. Democratic candidate Linda Barker, who requested the recount, had 2,203 votes and independent candidate Tina Stone had 396 votes.

Morgan County Commission Deputy Clerk Heather Tyler said the recount at the County Commission offices took all day Wednesday.

At the Morgan County Commission meeting on Friday, Commissioner Bob Ford said there were 218 "over votes" in the circuit clerk race, and those votes were not counted because all three candidates received a vote on those ballots. Ford said the recount also came up with 322 ballots cast without any vote for the three candidates in the race.

The recount for Morgan County magistrate was Friday with the winners, Republicans Greg Miller and Kermit Matthew Ambrose, remaining the same.
