November 30, 2004

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Two Chambersburg men charged in the Nov. 20 robbery of a borough restaurant have been charged by Chambersburg police with holding up a gas station one week earlier.

Derek L. Mills, 25, of North Franklin Street, and Matthew Saunders, 27, of 1907 Johnson Road, have been charged with robbery in the Saturday, Nov. 13, holdup of M&M Self Service Fuels at 17 W. King St.

In that incident, police say a man walked in, pulled a handgun and demanded cash while another man waited outside.

Mills and Saunders were charged earlier with the robbery of the carryout store at Schoenberger's Restaurant, 346 Lincoln Way East. In that holdup, police say a man pulled a gun on the cashier then fled on foot with another man along the railroad tracks next to the business.

A police K-9 picked up a scent and followed it to a house on North Fourth Street where Mills and Saunders were apprehended, police said.
