City Park illumination set for Friday

November 30, 2004

City Park in Hagerstown will be illuminated for the holiday season following a lighting ceremony Friday at 7 p.m.

After the lighting, a reception at the Jonathan Hager House will feature caroling by the Girl Scouts of the Shawnee Council - Hub City Service Unit, a winter petting zoo and Santa Claus. The Mansion House Art Center will be open. Free refreshments will be served at the Jonathan Hager House and the Mansion House Art Center.

Free hayrides through City Park will be available from 7 to 9 p.m.

Public Information Manager Karen Giffin said volunteers are need to help set up and take down luminarias. Giffin asks that anyone interested in helping call Michelle Higman, event co-chair, at 301-739-8577, ext. 159.

Because of construction at City Park, the holiday tree will be in front of the Washington County Museum of Fine Arts instead of in the middle of the lake, Giffin said.
