Lioness Moore honored for efforts to promote breakfast

November 29, 2004

At the multiple club meeting held at the Venice Inn on Nov. 10, the Hagerstown Lions Club honored Lioness Hon Moore, wife of the late Lion John Harrison Moore, for her many years of dedicated service in support of the Hagerstown Lions Club's annual pancake breakfast.

Now known as the John Harrison Moore Memorial Pancake Breakfast in honor of her late husband, the breakfast was first held in 1951. The name was changed in 2003 in recognition of the impact John Harrison Moore had over the years on ticket sales, the good cheer he radiated to both friends and strangers, and the prominent role he played in promoting the Hagerstown Lions Club in particular and Lionism in general to the community.

Hon Moore has continued the legacy of her husband by taking a leading role in the sale of tickets to the annual event, a major source of revenues used in support of the many community projects funded by the club each year.

Like her husband, she is credited with approximately 25 percent of the total ticket sales generated by the club.

Moore was presented with a lifetime gold-plated pancake breakfast ticket by club President Theodore Hull.
