Truck crashes over wall

November 26, 2004|by TARA REILLY

A pickup truck drove through a fence on Summit Avenue Wednesday night, rolled off a wall and landed on its roof behind the Washington County Administrative Annex.

The Hagerstown Police Department said Thursday the driver received minor injuries in the accident.

Police said the driver, whose name was not released, lost control of the truck, causing the accident.

The truck came to rest near the back of the county building at 80 W. Baltimore St.

A crowd gathered around the broken fence on Summit Avenue and along Hood Street, looking down at the wreck below.

Eventually, authorities roped off the broken fence with yellow tape.

A Blue Ridge Towing truck righted the maroon Ford pickup from its roof to its wheels.

The front end of the pickup was smashed, the windshield was shattered and the roof over the driver's side was caved in.
