Piano examinations are scheduled for April

The Maryland State Music Teachers Association will sponsor high school piano examinations, in cooperation with the Maryland Department of Education.

The examination is for piano students in grades nine through 12 in public, nonpublic, or home-taught schools who are residents of Maryland and will be studying piano on a regular basis during the school year of 2004-05.

Passing students will be awarded a Certificate of Achievement at their school and a report of the examination will be placed in their permanent record folder.

Ten minutes of memorized playing time is required from three different periods of literature. Music can be from early intermediate to advanced levels.

Examinations are held throughout the state during April 2005. School credit is also available with permission from school principal.
