Car hits deer

driver critically injured

November 22, 2004

A woman who struck a deer while driving her car on Greencastle Pike on Sunday night was critically injured when her car went off the road, struck a concrete embankment and overturned, Maryland State Police said in a written release.

Jessica Nichole Becker, 20, of 13447 Greencastle Pike, was listed in critical condition at Washington County Hospital this morning, a hospital spokeswoman said.

Police said that Becker was driving a 1996 Chevrolet Cavalier northbound on Greencastle Pike north of Pinehill Drive at about 11:36 p.m. when a deer ran across the road. Becker's car struck the deer and ran off the road, police said. The car continued off the road and struck a concrete embankment, which caused it to overturn, ejecting Becker from the vehicle, police said.

Police are asking a driver who stopped in the area of the accident at the time of the accident to call police at 301-739-2101.
