Harold F. Hill, 85

HURLOCK, Md. - Harold F. Hill, 85, of Hurlock, died Saturday, Nov. 20, 2004, at his home.

Born Oct. 19, 1919, in Roanoke, Va., he was the son of the late Joseph and Sally Hill.

He was a graduate of William Byrd High School in Virginia.

His wife, Vivian Irene Byrd Hill, formerly of Hagerstown, died June 9, 1999.

He worked as an apprentice plumber for the John R. Crocker Co., then became co-owner and retired 30 years later.

He was a member of Eldorado-Brookview United Methodist Church.

He was a member of the Moose organization.

He is survived by his son, Steven Guessford of Hurlock; one grandson, Thorne Guessford of Hurlock; and nieces and nephews.

Services will be Tuesday at 3 p.m. at Frampton Funeral Home, Federalsburg, Md. The Rev. Doug Albert will officiate. Burial will follow in Unity-Washington Cemetery, Hurlock.

Hazel V. Quenzel, 84

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Hazel V. Quenzel, 84, of Martinsburg, died Friday, Nov. 19, 2004, at City Hospital.

Born March 19, 1920, in Winchester, Va., she was the daughter of the late George and Alice Newcome Wingfield.

Her husband, Albert L. Quenzel, preceded her in death.

She was a member of Winchester Avenue Christian Church.

She was a member of Martinsburg Golden Rule Chapter 19, Order of the Eastern Star and the Frances Fulk Bowling League.

She is survived by one daughter, Colleen Q. McNamee of Martinsburg; one sister, Phyllis Orndorff of Star Tannery, Va.; one granddaughter, Andrea Fream; and one great-grandson, Nicholas Fream.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Winnie Gardner and Dorothy Wolf.

Services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Brown Funeral Home, Martinsburg. The Rev. Curtis E. Wheeler will officiate. Burial will be in Rosedale Cemetery.

The family will receive friends today from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home, where an Order of Eastern Star service will be held at 6 p.m.

Dolores J. Houck, 72


JAN. 4, 1932-NOV. 19, 2004

Dolores Jane Houck, 72, of 9946 Downsville Pike, Hagerstown, Md., passed away Friday, Nov. 19, 2004, at Clearview Nursing Home, Hagerstown.

Born Monday, Jan. 4, 1932, in Wilkes-Barre, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Melvin Houck and the late Viola M. Jensen Houck. She was preceded in death by her former husband, Elmer J. Smith.

She was a graduate of New Milford High School in New Milford, Pa. She was a member of the Northside Mennonite Church.

She is survived by three daughters, Susan A. Miller of Baltimore, Md., Lisa M. Marcello of Pittsburgh, Pa., and Cindy J. Kellinger of Knoxville, Md.; son, the Rev. Gary M. Smith of York, Pa.; four sisters, Alberta McKevee of New Milford, Thelma Esbrandt of Baltimore, Rita Miles of York, and Linda Newnan of Middletown, Md.; 10 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by one brother, John M. Houck.

Services will be held Monday, Nov. 22, 2004, at 8:45 p.m., at Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, 1331 Eastern Blvd. N., Hagerstown, with the Rev. Gary M. Smith officiating.

Family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 8:45 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 22.

Interment will follow in Oak Lawn Cemetery, Dundalk, Md., on Tuesday at noon.




Charlotte E. Freeze, 71


AUG. 8, 1933-NOV. 20, 2004

THURMONT, Md. - Charlotte Elaine Freeze, 71, of 614 E. Main St. in Thurmont, died Saturday, Nov. 20, 2004, at Frederick (Md.) Memorial Hospital.

Born Aug. 8, 1933, in Waynesboro, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Geneva Zimmerman Buchanan.

Her husband, Warren "Tex" Freeze, died Dec. 4, 1971.

She last was employed as a school crossing guard for the town of Thurmont.

She attended United Methodist Church.

She had been a volunteer at Thurmont Elementary School.

She is survived by one daughter, Michelle Freeze of Thurmont; a special friend, Mark Grail of Thurmont; and one aunt.

Services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Robert E. Dailey & Son Funeral Home, Thurmont. The Rev. Judith A. Moller will officiate. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.

The family will receive friends Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home, where friends may call from 1 to 8 p.m.
