United Way at 70 percent of $1.6 million goal

November 19, 2004|by MARLO BARNHART

With just one month left in the 2004 campaign, United Way of Washington County has reached 70 percent of the $1.6 million goal.

"This has been a solid campaign so far," said Jennifer Fleming, marketing and campaign coordinator for United Way. "Donations are still needed in order to reach the goal."

Many of the company campaigns are still in progress and a portion of the mail solicitation gifts haven't been received, Fleming said. Even if those campaigns produce the same amount as last year, projections are for a $35,000 shortfall this year.

Volunteers are in the process of soliciting gifts from donors who haven't given in the past, Fleming said. And a few of the ongoing campaigns are expected to show increases over last year.

Fleming said it is hoped the community will rally in the final few weeks to make sure the goal is reached so funding levels can be maintained for member agencies.

The campaign ends Dec. 16.
