Adriel J. Keener, 84


SEPT. 18, 1920-NOV. 16, 2004

MAUGANSVILLE - Adriel John Keener, 84, of Maugansville, died Tuesday, Nov. 16, 2004, at Washington County Hospital.

Born Sept. 18, 1920, in Cearfoss, he was the son of the late Clinton John and Edna Bucher Keener.

He retired from Mack Trucks in 1985.

A veteran of World War II, he served in the U.S. Army.

He was a member of Paramount Baptist Church.

He was a member of Maugansville Fire Co. and Morris Frock American Legion Post 42.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Lorene Virginia Eckard Keener; one daughter, Adrena Sheppard of Keedysville; three sons, Lynn Keener and twins Paul Keener and David Keener, all of Maugansville; six grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Services will be Friday at 1 p.m. at Rest Haven Funeral Chapel in Hagerstown. The Rev. Larry Rickard will officiate. Burial with military honors will be in Rest Haven Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Geraldine C. Cranson, 80

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Geraldine Clara Cranson, 80, of 880 Rustic Hill Drive, died Monday, Nov. 15, 2004, at her home.

Born Jan. 6, 1924, in Horse Valley, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Wayne and Blanche Ryder Piper.

She was a 1942 graduate of Fannett Township High School.

She retired from Letterkenny Army Depot.

She was a Methodist.

She was a member of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees, Charles M. Nitterhouse Ladies Auxiliary of V.F.W. Post 1599 and the Women of the Moose Lodge 1128, both of Chambersburg.

She is survived by one son, Stuart Cranson of Stuttgart, Germany; one sister, Sara Stewart, of Shippensburg, Pa.; one brother, Daniel Piper of Doylesburg, Pa.; nieces; nephews; and her companion, John B. Duryea of Chambersburg.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Piper and Charlotte Locke.

Services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at John L. Agett Funeral Home in Dry Run, Pa. The Rev. Darwin Goshorn will officiate. Burial will be in Concord Union Cemetery in Concord, Pa. The family will receive friends Saturday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a charity of one's choice.




Velva V. Patterson, 89

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Velva V. Patterson, 89, of 26 S. Federal St., died Monday, Nov. 15, 2004, at her home.

Born Jan. 24, 1915, in Berkeley Springs, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Lee Roy and Rosie A. Hedges Johnson.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph D. Patterson, in 1994.

She retired, after 20 years of employment, from Corning Glass Works in Greencastle, Pa., where she was an assembler.

She was a member of Bethel Assembly of God in Chambersburg.

She is survived by one daughter, Gloria A. Patterson of Laurel, Md.; one son, Raymond L. Patterson of Chambersburg; one sister, Rachel Dorsey of Martinsburg, W.Va.; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two sons, James R. Patterson and Frank Patterson, two sisters and three brothers.

Services will be Friday at 1 p.m. at Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home in Chambersburg. The Rev. Garry L. Kipe will officiate. Burial will be in Lincoln Cemetery in Chambersburg.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Friday from noon to 1 p.m. at the funeral home.

Gregory A. Bishop, 48

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Gregory A. Bishop, 48, of Martinsburg, died Monday, Nov. 15, 2004, at his home.

Born June 18, 1956, in Berkeley Springs, W.Va., he was the son of the late Thurman and Betty Shoemaker Bishop.

He was employed by Knouse Foods.

He is survived by his wife, Carla Riggs Bishop; one son, Darren Riggs at home; two brothers, Donald Bishop and Jeff Bishop, both of McConnellsburg, Pa.; one aunt; and one uncle.

Services will be Friday at 1 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home in Martinsburg. Burial will be in Central Chapel Cemetery in Gantown, W.Va.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.




George A. Dokes, 70


AUG. 18, 1934-NOV. 15, 2004

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - George A. Dokes, 70, of Martinsburg, died Monday, Nov. 15, 2004, at his home.

Born Aug. 18, 1934, he was the son of the late James and Evelyn Thronton Dokes.

He worked at C. H. Musselman Co. for 22 years.

He was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church, and was a trustee.
