Date set for hearing on rezoning request


The Washington County Commissioners on Tuesday set a date for another public hearing on a rezoning request from H.B. Mellott Estate Inc. to increase its mining operations.

The hearing will be Dec. 13 at 7 p.m. at Hagerstown Community College's Kepler Theater.




Two new county workers introduced


Two new Washington County employees were introduced to the County Commissioners on Tuesday.

Lisa Enderline is a senior office associate in the State's Attorney's Office.

George Palmer is a plant operator trainee in the Department of Water Quality.




Casual Day raises money for charity


Washington County employees raised $376 to benefit Breast Cancer Awareness through a recent Casual Day event, County Administrator Rodney Shoop said at Tuesday's County Commissioners meeting.

Employees donate money or food to various charities and, in return, are allowed to dress casually at work for the day, according to information from the county.

Shoop said the county is planning three Casual Day events during the holiday season.
