Council votes to introduce ordinance

November 17, 2004|by GREGORY T. SIMMONS

In a special voting session Tuesday, the City Council voted to introduce an ordinance that would authorize borrowing $4 million in bonds for general city construction projects.

The action is the first of several steps before the city actually borrows the money, which will be used on several projects including the widening of Eastern Boulevard, alley improvements, construction of a park for the University System of Maryland-Hagerstown, and a new dump truck.

According to a schedule provided this week, the city would have access to the money at the end of December.
