TJ sweeps Dulaney for 4A North title

TIMONIUM, Md. - Thomas Johnson swept Dulaney 25-18, 25-17, 25-16 in the Maryland Class 4A North championship game Friday night.

For the Patriots, Sara Hanlon had six kills and five blocks, Lauren Morrow had 14 service points and seven digs, Cassie Zalesky had 15 service points and three digs and Bethany Springer had nine service points, three kills and one block.

TJ (13-4) will play in the state semifinals Tuesday at Ritchie Coliseum in College Park.


HCC falls at nationals

TOLEDO, Ohio - Hagerstown Community College went 0-2 at the NJCAA Division II National Tournament, dropping six straight games.

Illinois Central swept the Hawks 30-24, 30-22, 20-23 on Thursday and Kirkwood swept them 30-27, 30-21, 30-19 on Friday.

For HCC (29-8), Megan Miller had 21 kills and 20 digs, Keri Jackson had 14 kills and 12 digs, Staci Grabill had 50 assists and Savanah Wetzel had 44 digs.

Rams lose in WVIAC quarterfinals

SUMMERVILLE, W.Va. - Alderson-Broaddus beat Shepherd University 30-25, 30-28, 29-31, 30-28 in the WVIAC quarterfinals Friday.

Lauren Durbin led the Rams (22-16) with 16 kills, while Holly Everhart had 12 kills, Beth Schaible 11 and Susanna Hill 10. Nicole Morgan had 49 assists and Taylor Darnley had 26 digs in the loss.


Owens 75, HCC 62

ROCHESTER, N.Y. - David Miner had 18 points, six rebounds and four assists and Clif Carey had 12 points, six rebounds and six assists as Hagerstown Community College (1-2) lost to Owens Community College in the first round of the Monroe Tournament.
