Knights, Titans, Patriots all earn tickets to states

Middletown 3, South Carroll 1


SYKESVILLE, Md. - Amanda Kinna scored two goals and Whitney Boyer had one as Middletown knocked off South Carroll to win the Maryland Class 2A West title.

Sara Hess had 10 saves for the Knights, but had the shutout broken up with three minutes left in the game when South Carroll's Janlyn Pasie scored. Meagan Sheffler and Ali Keeney each had assists in the win.

Middletown (11-7) will take on the South region winner (Atholton or Reservoir) Friday at 5 p.m. at Atholton High School.

Tuscarora 5, Catoctin 0


FREDERICK, Md. - Courtney Yee had three goals and an assist as Tuscarora blanked Catoctin to win the Class 1A South championship.

Molly Franklin and Chrissy Conrad each had a goal and Amanda Meehan had two assists for the Titans (14-2), who will play Smithsburg in the Class 1A semifinals Friday at 5 p.m. at Long Reach High School in Columbia, Md.

Thomas Johnson 3, Dulaney 2


FREDERICK, Md. - Thomas Johnson outlasted Dulaney in penalty kicks to win the Maryland 4A North region final.

The Patriots (14-2-1) advance to the state semifinals and will play the East region winner (Old Mill or Arundel) at South River High School Friday at 7:30 p.m.

Liberty 1, Walkersville 0


ELDERSBURG, Md. - Chris Haines scored the game's lone goal off a corner kick in the 13th minute to lift Liberty past Walkersville in the Maryland Class 2A West final.

Walkersville was outshot 10-6, but narrowly missed a chance to tie with just more than 10 minutes remaining. Senior forward Tyler Redick, playing in his final high school game, created an open shot, only to have it glance off the crossbar as Liberty was able to hold on.

Patrick Skovira had six saves for Walkersville (12-5).

Pee Wee graduation games


49ers 25, Lions 21: Darian Hampton scored four touchdowns - two on runs of 24 and 55 yards, and two on fumble recoveries for 54 and 63 yards - to lead the 49ers. Aaron Roby scored on runs of 54 and 10 yards, Brett Vitkun scored on a 20-yard fumble recovery and Zack Poffenberger added a conversion run for the Lions.

Bengals 28, Rams 13: Reggie Moody scored on runs of 57 and 50 yards, while Austin Scott scored on a 50-yard run and an 88-yard interception return for the Bengals. Tyler Shindle, Desmond Ingram, Matt Daley and Terry Mumma all added conversions. Ryan Aaron scored on a 20-yard run and ran in a conversion, while Stephen Smith added a 2-yard TD run for the Rams.
