Pa. police investigating smash-and-grab robbery at store

November 10, 2004

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Pennsylvania State Police were investigating another smash-and-grab burglary, this one a restaurant in Hamilton Township that was broken into Tuesday morning.

The 30 West Family Restaurant, at 1021 Lincoln Way West, was broken into between midnight and 5 a.m., police said. It was similar to a number of cases last week in which the front door glass of the business was smashed and the cash register was stolen, police said.

The cash register at 30 West contained about $400, police said.

On the night of Nov. 2-3, police said five businesses were entered by breaking the door glass. Three other break-ins were reported over the weekend and a similar break-in occurred at a gas station on Oct. 29, according to police reports.

The businesses have included a gas station, video store, florist, golf driving range and convenience stores, according to police. The burglaries occurred in the Chambersburg, Shippensburg, Scotland, Fayetteville, Greencastle and Orrstown areas, according to the reports.
