TIFTON, Ga. - A memorial service for Ray Hetzel, of Tifton, and formerly of Bakerton, W.Va., who died May 28, 2004, will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at Bethel United Methodist Church in Bakerton. The Rev. Joe Sergent will officiate. The family will receive friends following her service.

Roma G. Whipp, 67

LIGONIER, Pa. - Roma Gene Whipp, 67, of Ligonier died Monday, Nov. 1, 2004, at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center.

She was born May 14, 1937, in Frederick, Md., and was the daughter of the late George C. and Helen G. Miller Rice.


Mrs. Whipp was a graduate of Middletown High School. She graduated from The Washington County Hospital School of Nursing and was a nurse at Washington County Hospital for more than 20 years.

She was a former member of Mount Zion United Methodist Church, Myersville, Md., and a current member of The Heritage United Methodist Church, Ligonier.

Mrs. Whipp is survived by her husband, Donald L. Whipp; one son, Brian A. Whipp and wife Laurie of Myersville and twin daughters, Donna W. Gravely and husband, Page of Middleburg, Va., and Carol J. Stanfield and husband, David of Buckeystown, Md.; two grandchildren, Megan L. Whipp and Roman Gravely; and one sister, Yvonne McGaha and husband, David of Bonita Springs, Fla.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Nov. 6, at 11 a.m. at Mount Zion United Methodist Church, Myersville. The Rev. Norman Kemmerer will officiate.

Interment will be at the convenience of the family.

Local arrangements are by Ricketts Funeral Home, Myersville.

Barbara Ingram Francis, 71

BREWSTER, Mass. - Barbara Ingram Francis, 71, of Gladys Lane, Brewster, Mass., wife of Paul W. "Frosty" Francis Jr., died Saturday, Oct. 31, at Hartford Hospital.

Born in Hagerstown, Md., she was the daughter of the late John W. and Virginia (French) Ingram.

Mrs. Francis lived in West Hartford, Conn., for 48 years before moving to Brewster (Cape Cod) two years ago. Barbara was a loving and selfless wife, mother, grandmother and friend. Two of her grandchildren recently said of "Bobbie," "Bobbie was the nicest person ever."

Besides her husband, she is survived by one son, David Francis and his wife, Judy, of West Hartford; two daughters, Ann Francis of Charlotte, N.C., and Susan McCarthy and her husband, John J. McCarthy Jr., of Medfield, Mass; one brother, John W. Ingram Jr. of Hagerstown, Md.; one sister, Delores Miller of Johnstown, N.Y.; seven grandchildren, Samantha Francis, Carly Francis and Paul W. (Wil) Francis III, John McCarthy III, Timothy McCarthy, Margaret McCarthy, and Ann McCarthy; and two granddogs, Otis and Caymus.

A memorial service will be held at St. James Episcopal Church, 3 Mountain Road, Farmington, this Friday morning, Nov. 5 at 10:30.

There will be no calling hours.

Charles R. Michael, 74

BERKELEY SPRINGS, W.Va. - Charles Roy "Bud" Michael, 74, of Berkeley Springs, died Tuesday, Nov. 2, 2004, at City Hospital in Martinsburg, W.Va.

Born Sept. 3, 1930, in Morgan County, W.Va., he was the son of the late Henry Oliver and Virginia Mae Everett Michael.

He served in the U.S. Army.

He was a member of Mount Pleasant United Methodist Church in Berkeley Springs, and had been a trustee.

He served as treasurer of Mount Pleasant Cemetery and was a member of Alderton-Dawson American Legion Post 60 and Tri-State Honor Guard in Berkeley Springs.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Charlene Isabel Kelley Michael; one daughter, Karen V. Musser of Big Pool; two sisters, Marie Fisher of Berkeley Springs and Louise Mellott of Big Pool; one stepgranddaughter; nieces; and nephews.

Services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home, Berkeley Springs. Pastor Hal Butman will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Berkeley Springs, with military honors by Tri-State Honor Guard.

The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home, which will be open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Carolyn E. Bidle, 54

MYERSVILLE, Md. - Carolyn Elizabeth Bidle, 54, of Myersville, died Tuesday, Nov. 2, 2004, at her home.

Born Dec. 17, 1949, in Jefferson, Md., she was the daughter of Myrtle Wright Clary of Jefferson and the late Jesse M. Clary Sr.

She was a 1967 graduate of Brunswick (Md.) High School.

She retired from Farmers and Mechanics Bank in Frederick, Md., after 20 years.
