Boys & Girls Club offers digital arts instruction

November 01, 2004

Digital Arts, a new program offered by the Boys & Girls Club of Washington County and funded by a grant received from the Washington County Community Partnership for Children & Families, is giving children instruction on technology.

The club is providing instruction in five components of digital arts:

· Photo Illustration

· Music Making

· Movie Making

· Web Design

· Graphic Design

Each component includes a festival where participants are judged on their creativity, effort and participation. Winners in selected age groups are then eligible to compete against other Boys & Girls Clubs on a regional basis.

The program involves contributions from many different businesses. A grant from Best Buy provided a scanner, printer and software for the program. Several local individuals as well as representatives from Mid-Atlantic System Integrators, HBP, Staples, the Herald-Mail and Antietam Cable have donated time and talent to help make the program a success.

The Music Making Festival will be held Thursday, Nov. 11 at 6 p.m. at the Pennsylvania Avenue club in Hagerstown. For information call 301-733-5422.
