Builders honored at ABC event

The Cumberland Valley chapter of Associated Builders and Contractors Inc. held its Excellence in Construction dinner meeting in October at Fountain Head Country Club.

The Excellence in Construction dinner is held to recognize outstanding projects built by members of the association.

Awards were presented to the following first-place winners:

- Category A-1 Commercial (more than $1 million): Harkins Builders of Marriottsville, Md., for the Elgin Station Community Center.

- Category E-2 Interior Renovation (less than $1 million): Morgan-Keller Inc. of Frederick, Md., for the Cumberland Valley Surgical Center.

- Category I-Concrete Contractor: Morgan-Keller Inc. for Lenox China.

- Category A-2 Commercial (less than $1 million): Morgan-Keller Inc. for Farmers & Mechanics Bank in Riverside, Md.

The following subcontractors were recognized for their contributions to the winning projects: AC&T Co., Bragunier Masonry, Charles Brake Co., Clean Earth of Maryland, Craig Paving, Ellsworth Electric, H.R. Ebersole & Son, Hagerstown Block, Long Fence, M.S. Johnston Co. Inc., Thomas Bennett & Hunter, Valley Supply, Bridges Drywall, H. Frank Foland & Son, Hagerstown Paint, Industrial Electrical Construction & Service Inc. and Fridinger Ritchie.


A merit award was presented to Morgan-Keller Inc. for its work on the Red Cross Donor Center in Frederick.

M.S. Johnston Co. Inc. received a plaque from Associated Builders and Contractors for its 20 years of participation in ABC Insurance Trust. The program was developed by the trustees of the association insurance program to acknowledge those firms that have recognized the need to offer health benefits to attract and retain quality employees and have done so through the program.
