City police crime report

The Hagerstown Police Department has responded to the following calls since Wednesday, Sgt. Curt Wood said:
  • At 3:52 a.m., a burglary was reported in the 300 block of Dual Highway.

  • At 6:24 a.m., a burglary reported in the 400 block of West Washington Street.

  • At 10:13 a.m., a boys' 20-inch Next bicycle was reported found in the area of Broadway and North Mulberry.

  • At 10:16 a.m., a window was reported shot out with a BB gun in the 100 block of South Potomac Street.

  • At 12:25 p.m., Pennsylvania temporary registration tag 0835202 was reported stolen from the first block of West Antietam Street.

  • At 5:37 p.m., domestic violence was reported in the first block of Downsville Pike.

  • At 6:13 p.m., a radio was reported stolen from the 300 block of North Jonathan Street.

  • At 9:05 p.m., breaking and entering was reported in the 200 block of Taylor Avenue.

  • At 10:44 p.m., domestic violence was reported in the 100 block of East Washington Street.

Sheriff's deputies respond to calls


The Washington County Sheriff's Department responded to the following calls on Wednesday, according to Sgt. Mark Knight:

  • At 7:30 a.m., several work trucks parked at Western Carrier, at 14240 Pennsylvania Ave., were reported broken into. Various tools and saw kits were reported stolen. About $400 in damage was reported and about $3,500 in tools were reported stolen.

  • At 1 p.m., maintenance tools were reported stolen from Avalon Manor Health Care Center, at 14014 Marsh Pike. No value was listed.

Man sought on probation violation

The Hagerstown Police Department is asking for the public's assistance in finding a Hagerstown man wanted on Washington County District Court and Circuit Court warrants.

Police said Stephen A. Hoopengarner, 22, whose last known address was 302 N. Potomac St., Apt. 3N, is wanted on a September Circuit Court bench warrant issued for a violation of probation and an August District Court bench warrant for failing to appear in court for a traffic offense.

Hoopengarner is described as a white man, about 5 feet 9 inches tall and weighing 160 pounds with blond hair and blue eyes.
