Ethel G. Helm, 93


MARCH 7, 1911-OCT. 27, 2004

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Ethel G. Helm, 93, a resident of The Shook Home, formerly of Greencastle, Pa., died Wednesday, Oct. 27, 2004, at the home.

Born March 7, 1911, in Shady Grove, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Daniel B. and Mary C. Maun Helm.

She retired in 1973 from the former Stanley Co., of Chambersburg.

She was a member of Evangelical Lutheran Church of Greencastle.

She was the last of her immediate family.

She is survived by nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by five sisters and three brothers.

Services will be Monday at 2 p.m. at Harold M. Zimmerman and Son Funeral Home in Greencastle. The Rev. Martin H. Horn will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Greencastle.

The family will receive friends Monday one hour prior to services at the funeral home.




Glenn A. Bowman Sr., 76

BOONSBORO - Glenn Arnold "Slash" Bowman Sr., 76, of 10 Park View, died Wednesday, Oct. 27, 2004, at his home.

Born May 7, 1928, in Leitersburg, he was the son of the late Floyd Nelson and Catherine Olive Shilling Bowman.

He retired from Hall's Transportation in Hagerstown, after 32 years of service.

He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Marine Corps.

He was a member of Virginia Avenue Church of God.

He was a member of Dixon-Troxell Post 211 American Legion of Funkstown and Boonsboro Fire/Rescue Co.

He is survived by his wife, Lauretta Paulsgrove Bowman, whom he married March 24, 1956; one daughter, Wanda Cronin of Hagerstown; one son, Glenn A. Bowman Jr. of Boonsboro; six sisters, Charlotte Keller, Zella Koogle and Arvella Lutz, all of Middletown, Md., Rhea Stup and Orpha Wade, both of Boonsboro, and Olive Draper of St. James; and two brothers, Roger Bowman and Marshall Bowman, both of Boonsboro.

He was preceded in death by one sister, Evelyn Griffith, and one brother, George Bowman.

Services will be Saturday at 3 p.m. at Bast Funeral Home in Boonsboro. The Rev. A. Paul Harne will officiate. Burial will be in Boonsboro Cemetery.

The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Washington County, 1500 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown, MD 21742.




Olivia F. Starliper, 11 days

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Olivia F. Starliper, 11 days, of Chambersburg, died Wednesday, Oct. 27, 2004, at Harrisburg (Pa.) Hospital.

Born Oct. 16, 2004, in Harrisburg, she was the daughter of Tim W. and Gail B. Hawbaker Starliper of Chambersburg.

In addition to her parents, she is survived by maternal grandmother, Isabelle Zach, and stepgrandfather, Larry Zach of Greencastle, Pa.; paternal grandparents, Harold and Elmira Starliper of Orrstown, Pa.; aunts; uncles; and cousins.

She was preceded in death by maternal grandfather, Seth W. Hawbaker.

Services will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Marion (Pa.) First United Methodist Church. The Rev. Chris Renner will officiate. Burial will follow in Green Hill Cemetery in Waynesboro, Pa.

The family will receive friends Saturday from 1 to 2 p.m. at the church.

Ryan M. DiSalvo, infant

Ryan Mathew DiSalvo, infant son of Tina Louise Carter and Luciano Christopher DiSalvo of Hagerstown, died Monday, Oct. 25, 2004, in Frederick, Md.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by two sisters, Sunny L. DiSalvo of Germantown, Md., and Hayley M. DiSalvo of Hagerstown; maternal grandparents, Charles M. and Darlene E. Carter of Hagerstown; paternal grandparents, Theresa DiSalvo of Gaithersburg, Md., and Anthony and Susan DiSalvo of California; maternal great-grandparents, Helen Carter of Rockville, Md., and Evelyn DeHart of Gaithersburg; and paternal great-grandparents, James and Peggy Webb of Charleston, W.Va.

Services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Gerald N. Minnich Funeral Home, 305 N. Potomac St., Hagerstown. The Rev. J. Norman Mayer will officiate.

Burial will be private.

Visitation will be Saturday from 10:30 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home.




Virginia E. Brechbiel, 88


MARCH 10, 1916-OCT. 27, 2004

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Virginia E. Brechbiel, 88, of Penn Hall and formerly of 432 N. Earl St., Shippensburg, Pa., died Wednesday, Oct. 27, 2004, at the center.

Born March 10, 1916, in Shippensburg, she was the daughter of the late Herbert S. and Anna Mae Witter Culbertson.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Wilbur S. Hippensteel, in 1975.

She was a member of Shippensburg Church of the Brethren.

She worked in the food service department at Shippensburg University.

She was a member of First Court Chapter 470 Order of the Eastern Star, Fort Morris Chapter AARP and Shippensburg Senior Center.
