Opening this week at the movies

"Ray" (PG-13) - Born in a poor town in Georgia, Ray Charles went blind at the age of seven - shortly after witnessing the accidental death of his younger brother. Inspired by an independent mother who insisted he make his own way in the world, Charles found his calling and his gift behind the piano keyboard. Charles' style pioneered the incorporation of gospel, country, jazz and orchestral influences. As his fame spread, he fought segregation in the same clubs that promoted him and championed artists' rights in the corporate music business. Starring Jamie Foxx, Regina King, Kerry Washington, Richard Schiff and Aunjanue Ellis.
