Pregnant woman slightly injured


BIG POOL - A pregnant woman who was struck by a pickup truck Sunday evening did not sustain serious injuries as a result of the impact, Maryland State Police said.

Maryland State Police Cpl. Jeff Kissner said a woman sustained only "bumps and bruises" as a result of being struck by a Ford truck outside of the AC&T in Big Pool, about 7:30 p.m.

Kissner said the driver drove from the scene to his home, in the Big Pool area, following the incident. Kissner said he did not know if the driver, whose identity was not released Sunday, was aware he struck the woman, who was subsequently taken to Washington County Hospital.

The investigation was still under way late Sunday, Kissner said.




Death of Pa. man being investigated


GREENCASTLE, Pa. - The death of a 25-year-old Greencastle, Pa., man found dead in his home Friday is being investigated by the borough police and Franklin County Coroner's Office with the assistance of Pennsylvania State Police, according to Coroner Jeffrey R. Conner.

The body of Corbett Mellott of 38 E. Baltimore St., was found by relatives, according to state police.

Conner said the 911 call came in at 6:46 a.m. Friday and he pronounced Mellott dead at 7:34 a.m. An autopsy is scheduled today at Lehigh Valley Medical Center in Allentown, Pa., Conner said.




Va. man faces drug charges


FREDERICK, Md. - A Springfield, Va., man facs drug charges Saturday morning after his car was stopped, the Frederick Police Department said.

At about 1:40 a.m., an officer stopped a vehicle on East 16th Street for speeding, police said in a news release.

The driver, William B. Fleming, 31, was charged with speeding, driving on a suspended license and being in possession of "ecstasy," police said.




Frederick man faces drug charges


FREDERICK, Md. - A Frederick man was charged with several drug offenses Saturday, the Frederick Police Department said.

At 9:07 p.m., the department's Drug Enforcement Unit arranged to make an undercover purchase of crack cocaine from Robert Benjamin Moals, 27, of 1313 Motter Ave., Frederick, police said in a news release. He was in possession of a crack pipe, police said.

Moals was arrested and charged with distribution of crack cocaine, possession with intent to distribute crack cocaine, and possession of crack cocaine and paraphernalia, police said.




Man wanted by police found Saturday


FREDERICK, Md. - A wanted subject was found and arrested Saturday, the Frederick Police Department said.

Members of the department's Drug Enforcement Unit saw the woman, Athalene Bisonette Diggs, whom they knew had an open warrant, police said.

Diggs, 33, of the 500 block of Beebe Court, Frederick, was found to be in possession of crack cocaine and a crack pipe, police said.

Diggs was charged with possession of crack, possession of paraphernalia and violating a probation warrant, police said.
