Man sentenced for entering U.S. illegally

October 23, 2004

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - A U.S. District judge on Tuesday imposed a 15-month prison term on a Silver Spring, Md., man who entered the United States illegally, U.S. Attorney Thomas E. Johnston's office said in a news release Friday.

In U.S. District Court in Martinsburg, Judge W. Craig Broadwater also ordered Gilberto Castrillo, 32, to be on supervised release for two years following his prison term, Johnston's office said.

Castrillo had pleaded guilty on July 30 to illegally re-entering the U.S. after being deported in 1976, the news release said.

The case was investigated by the Harpers Ferry (W.Va.) Police Department and the Bureau of Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
