Two people injured in Friday house fire

October 23, 2004|by ANDREW SCHOTZ

Firefighters pulled two people from a burning house on Mercersburg Road on Friday night, a fire official said.

A woman who was rescued was seriously injured and was airlifted to a hospital, said Charles Mundey, chief of the Clear Spring Volunteer Fire Co. A Washington County emergency dispatcher said the woman was flown to Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center.

A man who also was rescued from the house was taken to a hospital, but was not as seriously injured, Mundey said.

The brick house at 14323 Mercersburg Road was on fire when firefighters arrived at about 10 p.m., he said.

The fire was mostly in one room of the house.

Heavy burn damage could be seen inside the room off the front door of the house.

Mundey said at 11:30 p.m. that a fire investigator was being called in and that it was too early to say what the cause might have been.
